How to get hereBY PLANE
Getting to Malawi is easy as eating fish and chips. There are three airline operators that offer flights to Malawi. The flights are not direct and do stop off in either Kenya, South Africa or Ethiopia. Ethiopian airlines is the cheapest and can be taken from various locations around the world. South African airlines and Kenya airlines are more expensive but beware of the waiting times in the airports. They offer the most comfortable flight service. BY CAR
Flame Tree is situated on Lake Malawi in Chintheche, Nkata Bay District in the Northern Region of Malawi. It is some 77kms from Mzuzu and approx 340kms from Lilongwe along the M5 Lakeshore road. It is 2-3 kms south of Chintheche Boma and is signposted on the Lakeside. Follow the signs for some 2kms and you have arrived at our oasis. BY BUS/FOOT
If you are going to be travelling by bus, please be aware that Malawi does not have a strict or rigid bus service. You can find minibuses all over Malawi but expect to wait for the bus to fill up before it leaves and it will be cramped. There are coach services between Mzuzu and Lilongwe but they do not go along the lakeshore. We recommend you take the minibuses and do stops along the lakeshore to get the best out of Malawi. When you arrive at Chintheche Boma, you can ask any of the locals to guide you to our Lodge or please call or email us in advance to arrange a pick-up service*. Please note that the pick-up service is dependant of the fuel situation. CLICK ON THE IMAGES ON YOUR LEFT TO BE DIRECTED TO THE AIRLINES WEBSITE |
